Dice Strength

Dice Strength

A playful organizational form to include everyone

  • 6+ years
  • Group size: 5+
  • Duration: 30 min
  • Alternative physical activities
  • Gym / Sports hall
  • Indoor
  • Open space
  • Dice
  • Cones

An organizational form that can be used in all types of station training. This is a variation of traditional circuit training, where the dice determine which station participants should work on.

Preparation

  • Place numbered cones at each station, with different numbers – for example, 1–6 when using one die, or 2–12 when using two dice.
  • There don't need to be as many stations as possible dice rolls. If a number that doesn't exist is rolled, participants can, for example, choose any station (a 'joker' number).
  • Create an area in the middle with many dice, so that no one has to wait long to roll.
  • Participants run into the middle during breaks, roll the dice, and then find out which station they should go to for the next round.
  • To avoid one-sided training, it can be a good idea to have two different exercises at the same station, so that those who often roll the same number still get variety.

Execution

  • Participants start in the middle where the dice are located.
  • They roll the dice, run to the station with the corresponding number, perform the exercise, and then run back to roll again.

The illustration shows a related organizational form (Bingo Strength) where bingo boards are used to make the activity more game-oriented. Dice Strength can easily be combined with Bingo Strength.

Tip: This organization can also be used interdisciplinarily, for example, by combining physical activity with academic tasks.
