Participants stand in pairs in a large circle. The couples hold each other's hands. The steps danced are Jenka steps and hopping steps.

Explanation

  • Take two heel steps with the left foot (left foot diagonally out, simultaneously a small hop on the right foot) (1–4).
  • Then take two heel steps with the right foot (5–8).
  • Make one hop with feet together towards each other and one hop apart (1–4).
  • Make three hops forward to a new partner (5–8) – the boy moves on the outside of his partner, the girl on the inside.

Repeat the dance.

Progression

First, learn the regular Jenka. It can be taught by having the children stand freely in the room and imitate the leader, or by having everyone stand in a line along the long wall while the leader stands a bit ahead with their back to the children.

Once they know the steps, transition to dancing in a line: Participants hold each other by the shoulder and dance regular Jenka before forming a circle.

Then, let the couples hold hands and dance Letkajenka in a circle, with a partner change every time the Jenka steps restart.
