All cards are spread face down on the floor. Participants are divided into at least two groups that play against each other. The goal is to find matching pairs while simultaneously remembering where the different cards are located. Pairs can, for example, consist of academic terms and explanations, questions and answers, years and events, countries and capitals, etc.
When a group finds a matching pair, this “pair” is set aside. Each time a group successfully finds a pair, they must come up with an exercise that the other groups have to do, for example, ten jump squats or five regular squats. Once the other groups have completed the exercise, the same group can continue turning cards until they fail to find a pair. If the cards do not match, they are turned back over and placed exactly where they were.
Variations
Can be used across all subjects, for example, language (word and meaning), geography (country–capital/country–flag), natural sciences (concept–explanation), social studies, or history (year–event/person–description).
The physical exercises can be done in pairs or with the whole group, and can also include coordination exercises.
