Sheep and Wolverine is a tag game where one participant is chosen as the wolverine, while the rest are sheep. The wolverine walks on two legs and tries to transform all the sheep into wolverines. The sheep must move on all fours. They are transformed when the wolverine manages to roll them onto their backs.

The sheep should resist and make it difficult for the wolverine to get them onto their backs. Once a sheep has been rolled over and has been on its back, it becomes a wolverine, stands up on two legs, and can help transform new sheep. The wolverines can cooperate. It's a good idea to choose a somewhat strong and confident wolverine at the start, so that more wolverines quickly join the game.

Tips: Demonstrate and practice a safe 'hold'/grip for how to roll someone over, to avoid injuries. The game is well-suited as a warm-up.

Variations

  • In large groups, you can start with two or more wolverines.
  • Vary the size of the area – a small area provides more intensity, a larger area allows for more running.
  • Adapt the surface (grass, mat, gym hall) to make rolling and resistance safer.
