Find a delimited area, for example, half a gym hall or a lawn. One child is chosen to be the emperor and sits on a chair or stump. The others are the emperor's children and stand behind a marked line a short distance away.

The children agree on a common profession they will mime for the emperor. Then they step forward and say: «Good day, my emperor». The emperor replies: «Good day, my children. What profession do you have today?» Now all the children must show the profession with their body and hands. The emperor guesses what profession it is. When he/she guesses correctly, the emperor stands up and tries to catch as many children as possible before they can get back across the line.

The children who are caught then help the emperor catch the others. The children who are still free think of a new profession and go to the emperor again. The last son or daughter to be caught takes over the throne and becomes the new emperor.

Variation

It doesn't have to be professions that are mimed; the children can, for example, also pretend to be different animals or famous characters.
