A group of 8–10 participants stands in a circle with their hands behind their backs. One person stands in the middle with a ball.

The player in the middle throws the ball towards one of the participants in the circle. The one who has the ball thrown at them must catch and hold it. If they fail to catch the ball, they must sit down and wait until only one participant is left standing.

The player in the middle can also try to trick the participants by pretending to throw the ball at someone without actually doing so. If a participant brings their hands forward and 'reacts' without the ball actually being thrown, they must also sit down. The one who remains standing at the end has won and takes the place in the middle.

The distance between the middle player and the circle should be about 4 meters. If the distance is too short, participants won't have enough time to react and catch the ball. Let the middle player have a clearly defined area to move within, for example, a hula hoop, so that everyone in the circle receives throws from approximately the same distance.

Variation

  • Change the middle player each time someone is tricked or drops the ball, so that more people get to try the role in the middle.
  • If the exercise becomes too easy, the distance between the middle player and the circle can be gradually reduced, making the reaction time shorter and catching the ball more challenging.
