Divide the participants into groups of 3–4. Place all letter cards (half vowels, half consonants) face down on the floor, approximately 20 meters from the groups. Each group receives a bucket for vowels and a basket for consonants.
One participant from each group runs to the letter cards, chooses one card, and runs back. Together, the group decides whether the letter should be placed in the bucket (vowel) or in the basket (consonant). Once the card is placed, the next participant runs. This continues until all cards have been taken.
When there are no more cards left, the groups try to spell as many words as possible with the letters they have collected.
Variation
The activity can be adapted for mathematics by using numbers instead of letters, and letting the children sort even and odd numbers. They can also create equations with the number cards and write down the answers.
