In this dance, three couples dance together in a circle, with the girl to the right of the boy and holding hands at shoulder height.
The steps used are small hopping steps (walk-hop).
First Turn
a) Around in a Circle
Everyone dances 13 hopping steps around in a circle to the left (sunwise). They stop and stomp on beats 14–15–16, turning at the same time (1–16).
Then they dance the same way back, finishing so that partners face each other (1–16).
b) Star
Everyone claps their hands before the couples take each other's hands in both hands and form a "star":
outer hands held high, inner hands low and gathered in the center (fingers interlocked).
Everyone dances 13 hopping steps sunwise, boys moving forward and girls backward.
They stop with three stomps and turn towards their "neighbor" (1–16).
The same is repeated with the neighbor, but now the boy moves backward and the girls forward.
c) Chain
Everyone claps their hands and starts the chain by giving their right hand to their own partner, left hand to the next, and so on, until they meet their own partner for the second time.
Then the couple stomps three times and gets ready to start anew. (1–16).
Second Turn
a) As in the first turn.
b) As in the first turn, but here everyone claps their hands by bringing them together vertically up and down.
c) As in the first turn.
Progression (Learning)
- It is an advantage if one has previously danced "Lasse Går i Ringen" and knows how to form a chain.
- One can practice all elements of the dance in a large circle: hopping steps, turn-back, star, chain, etc.
- This can also be the dance itself for younger children.
- It is much easier to perform the dance in small circles once one has practiced in a large circle.
