Couples stand in a large circle, holding hands. The boy stands with his back towards the center.

Explanation

a) Do heel–toe–heel–toe with the foot pointing in the dance direction (counter-clockwise), followed by four side hops.

Repeat the same in the opposite direction.

b) Quickly clap three times towards your partner:

  • right hand to partner's right
  • left hand to partner's left
  • both hands

Finish with a clap on your own thigh.

c) Dance around each other with hooked arms.

Partner change: Those in the inner circle (closest to the center) move one place forward.

Variation

Variant (Pat-a-cake): Dance part a) with waltz hold. Instead of dancing around with hooked arms, the boy takes the girl's left hand and swings her twice clockwise.
