Circle Course

Circle Course

Combining mathematics with movement.

  • 10+ years
  • Group size: 6+
  • Duration: 30 min
  • Physically Active Learning
  • Partner exercise
  • Gym / Sports hall
  • Indoor
  • Open space
  • Cones
  • Music

The group is divided into pairs or small groups. A circle course with 10 stations is set up, and the groups distribute themselves at their respective stations.

At each station, there is a math problem to be solved against the clock. When time is up, the groups move on to the next station in the circle. The setup works like traditional circuit training, but here the 'exercises' are mathematical problems.

To increase the activity level, bonus movements can be incorporated: After each solved problem, participants should, for example, jump up and down 10 times, or 'hop like bunnies' on their way to the next station.

Variation

Participants can help decide:

  • what types of problems should be at the stations
  • what bonus movements should be performed between stations
