Practice interaction and communication in a foreign language.
- 10+ years
- Group size: 2+
- Duration: 20 min
- Physically Active Learning
- Partner exercise
- Gym / Sports hall
- Indoor
- Open space
- Ball
- Cones
- Blindfolds
The balls are spread out over a spacious area, clearly marked with cones. Participants form pairs.
One person in the pair should have something over their eyes so they cannot see. The other will guide the 'blind' person using simple commands in English, for example:
- «walk»
- «run»
- «stop»
- «pick up the ball»
The goal is to collect as many balls as possible. When the pair believes they are finished, they should count the balls aloud in English. Afterward, the balls are placed back in the area, and the pair switches roles.
Once both people in the pair have been 'blind', all pairs gather. Each pair tells how many balls they managed to collect, also in English. All communication during the game should be in English.
Variation
The activity can be adapted for teaching other languages by replacing the English commands with words and phrases from the target language.
