- Dice
Each group creates its own group chant. No two groups may have the same chant.
Each group is assigned a ‘base’ around the teacher/activity leader. In each base there is a dice (preferably a large wooden one). At a given signal, all groups roll the dice and run to the station corresponding to the number they rolled (1–2–3–4–5–6).
There are 50 stations set up in a designated area, with one question at each station (both easy and difficult).
When a member of the group has found the correct station, they start shouting the group’s call to summon the others. The group gathers at the station, answers the question, and then runs back to the teacher/activity leader to give their answer.
If the answer is correct, the group rolls the dice again and adds the new number to the previous station number.
Example: If they were at checkpoint 5 last and roll a four, they add 5 + 4 and run to checkpoint 9.
If the answer is wrong, the group must start from the second-to-last number they were at.
Example: If they were at checkpoint 3, then at checkpoint 7, and give the wrong answer at checkpoint 7, they roll the dice again but continue counting from 3.
All groups must pass through checkpoint 50. At this checkpoint, there may well be a practical task linked to a theme.
If a winner is to be declared, this could be the first group to get past checkpoint 50.
