Two players play together on a court of approximately 5 × 5 meters. Place a bench, or draw a line, about 3 meters from the wall. The ball must not bounce in the area between the bench/line and the wall.
One player throws the ball against the wall. The opponent must catch the ball directly, or after one bounce in the area behind the bench/line. Then he/she throws the ball against the wall again from the same spot where the ball was received.
Scoring:
- The thrower gets a point if the ball bounces on the floor within the approved area, and the opponent fails to catch the ball.
- The opponent gets a point if the ball bounces in the area between the bench/line and the wall, or goes outside the approved area.
Variation
The game can be played with a football where only feet are used. In this case, there are no rules for where the ball should bounce or which area it must be within. This is a simpler variation.
The exercise can be made more challenging by having players not catch the ball, but hit it directly back against the wall. This requires a ball with good bounce, for example, a volleyball. The distance between the wall and the bench/line can also be increased, and different balls can be tried, for example, a tennis ball.
