Coordinate Game

An activity that challenges concentration, simple arithmetic, directional awareness, and endurance.

- Group size: 1+
- Duration: 30 min

- Gym / Sports hall
- Open space
- Cones
- Ball
- Dice
In this exercise, participants use dice to create a 'course' they will run based on coordinates.
Set up a simple coordinate system using numbered cones and markers. Mark a starting point in the corner of the cones. Participants then roll two dice before running the course indicated by the dice.
Example: The dice show 4 and 5.
- First, run to cone number 4 on the X-axis (blue row).
- Turn 90 degrees, and run 5 cones up along the Y-axis.
- Continue running out to the Y-axis (red row) and back to the start.
Variations
- Run zigzag between the markers.
- Run 360 degrees around each cone when turning.
- Use different types of balls along the way.
- Create a tag-variant where participants chase each other along the coordinates.
- Vary the size of the playing area (shorter/longer axes).
- Change the number of cones to make the exercise easier or more challenging.
