Oopsie daisy

Oopsie daisy

A game that provides good practice in spatial orientation and concentration.

  • 6+ years
  • Group size: 6+
  • Duration: 10 min
  • Alternative physical activities
  • Mountains, forests and fields
  • Gym / Sports hall
  • Open space
  • Blindfolds

All participants close their eyes and gather within a clearly defined area that is not too large. Then they start moving around 'blindly' and greet everyone they meet, while saying 'oopsie daisy'.

One person is the 'spreader' and has been instructed to greet without saying 'oopsie daisy'. Everyone who is greeted by this person should do the same: they stop saying 'oopsie daisy' when they greet others. Gradually, fewer and fewer people say the phrase, and eventually everyone is 'infected'.

  • Adjust the size of the area: the smaller it is, the easier it is for participants who move slowly to meet new people often.
  • Clearly mark the area (cones, lines on the floor) so that everyone stays within it.
