Pig

Pig

Challenge basic skills and hand-eye coordination.

  • 10+ years
  • Group size: 3+
  • Duration: 20 min
  • Ball sport
  • Mountains, forests and fields
  • Gym / Sports hall
  • Snow / ice
  • Open space
  • Ball
  • Chalk

Draw a square or mark a clear area. Participants stand in a circle inside the square and hit the ball to each other. The ball should not be caught, but hit/thrown directly to another person. You cannot hit the ball back to the person who just had it.

If a participant fails to receive the ball, they get the first letter of a word that the group has decided beforehand, for example 'P' in the word 'PIG'. If you drop the ball multiple times, you collect more letters, for example 'PI' after two mistakes. The game continues until someone has spelled the entire word, for example 'PIG', and is out.

Variation

The game can be played in many ways. For example, participants can decide to:

  • only use their feet
  • only head the ball
  • must use a specific body part each round

This way, you can adjust both the difficulty and activity level.
