The Feint Game

A partner exercise that challenges coordination.
- 6+ years
- Group size: 2+
- Duration: 15 min
- Partner exercise
- Mountains, forests and fields
- Gym / Sports hall
- Open space
The pair stands with legs wide apart and as steadily as possible, face to face, with about half a meter between them. The goal is to unbalance the other by pushing against each other's hands.
Rules:
- it is not allowed to grab – only short, controlled pushes
- it is allowed to "feint", for example, quickly pull hands away so that the opponent loses balance
- whoever has to move a foot has lost the round
Make sure participants are warm before you start, and use a soft surface to reduce the risk of fall injuries.
Variation
Have all pairs line up in two circles:
- inner circle: participants stand facing outwards
- outer circle: participants stand facing inwards
There should be an equal number in each circle. Each participant in the inner ring has an opponent in the outer.
Once a duel is decided:
- the winner stands in the inner circle (if he/she isn't already there)
- the loser goes outside the circles, follows the circle clockwise and finds a new opponent to challenge
To make it easier, it can also be allowed to gently push the chest.
The exercise can be performed kneeling on a mat for less strain and lower fall height.
Adjust the distance between the feet (narrower stance = more difficult balance).
