Animal Ball

A ball game that trains memory and basic throwing and catching techniques.
- 3-10 years
- Group size: 5+
- Duration: 15 min
- Alternative physical activities
- Indoor
- Open space
- Gym / Sports hall
- Mountains, forests and fields
- Ball
Participants are divided into groups of about 5–6 people. Each group forms a circle. The person who starts says the name of an animal and throws the ball to another person in the group. The one who catches the ball must first repeat the animal's name that was just said, before adding a new animal and throwing the ball to another. All the animals mentioned must be repeated every time the ball is thrown.
Variation
For older participants, the exercise can be made more difficult by only allowing them to name animals within a specific category, for example, farm animals, pets, or forest animals. You can also use other types of words than animals, and let the game be about naming other things. For older participants, this could, for example, be word classes.
