Each participant receives a form where the first row has the following column headers: country, capital, language, population, area, characteristics. The form should have as many rows as the number of countries you wish to work with.

Small cards with keyword information about the different countries are shuffled and laid out in a designated area. For example, if you include Iceland, you create cards with one keyword per card, for example:

Reykjavik – Icelandic – 350,000 inhabitants – 103,000 km² – hot springs.

These words should therefore be on separate cards, one per card.

Participants move around the area, find keyword cards, and write down the information in the correct column and for the correct country on the form. To encourage more movement, you can decide that participants must return to a fixed point between reading each card. If they are unsure where the keywords belong, they can use a geography book or search the internet.

Variation

The exercise can easily be adapted to other themes and subjects, for example, historical figures, scientific concepts, or social studies topics.
